Ellen has trained to Level 1 ISAK Anthropometry
ISAK stands for the ‘International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry’, an organisation that has developed international standards for anthropometric assessment and an international anthropometry accreditation scheme.
Practical application includes the accurate measurement of a client’s profile (height, mass, 8 skinfolds, 5 girths, 2 breadths) to the standard required by ISAK. These measures enable the monitoring of health and growth variables and calculation of somatotype, all of which ISAK sees as valuable tools for the comparison and evaluation of body size, shape and composition. Sports people find the anthropometry measurements are particularly valuable for monitoring change in body fat / muscle as a result of their training programme and dietary regime which keeps them motivated to maintain their efforts.
